Beyond the Mic: How Season 1 Came to Life! 🎙️✨

So, a lot of you may be wondering what the actual process is for this podcast, and I thought I’d let you in on the behind-the-scenes magic! I’m so stoked to finally share the trailer for Season 1, but what you’re hearing is the result of a massive labor of love.

The "Non-Interview" Interview

It all starts with a conversation. I don’t really do "interviews" in the strict sense—I want to learn everything. We start with the basics, but then I ask my subjects to pick the exact moment they feel their story truly begins. From there, we walk through their past together. This isn't a quick 30-minute chat; we spend hours together over multiple recording sessions to make sure no stone is left unturned.

Piecing the Puzzle Together

Nobody tells their life story in a perfect, straight line. People skip around, forget details, or get emotional—and that’s the beautiful part!

  • The Audit: I review every second of audio to ensure the heart of the story is there. If we missed a detail, we jump back in for one more session.

  • The Chronology: I organize the chaos. I piece the story together chronologically while keeping those side-tangents that make my guests who they are.

  • The "Clean-Up": Fun fact—sometimes during these long talks, I don’t know how to phrase a question or I sound like a total idiot! To keep things professional, I actually re-record my questions after the interview is done to make sure the flow is perfect.

The Edit: Where the Magic Happens

I actually use Adobe Premiere to lay everything out. I know, I know—it’s for video!—but it works wonders for me. I spend an enormous amount of time here because I have a golden rule: No Bias. This is their story to tell, not mine. I am extra careful to edit in a way that respects their truth.

Once the story is set, I:

  1. Layer the Music: I drop in scores that live between the dialogue to set the mood.

  2. The Polish: I move to Adobe Audition to master the audio, scrub the background noise, and give it that rich, rounded "radio" sound.

  3. The Final Touch: I add the intros, credits, and trailers, then hit that upload button!

Quality Over Everything 🏆

Most people think podcasting is easy and try to churn out an episode every single week. I’m not falling into that mess. I release each season only when it is 100% ready. It might be a "slower" way to do things, but the quality is so much better, and I think you’ll hear the difference.
